President's Welcome

CTAT... Foundation of Progress Teamwork - Knowledge - Flexibility

Welcome to the County Treasurers’ Association of Texas website.  This website serves the 245 elected County Treasurers from across the state and provides accurate information to our constituents about the constitutionally elected position of County Treasurer in the State of Texas.
Our association’s principle goals are to promote the professional development of our members through education and peer to peer communication while seeking legislative reform that promotes a more effective and efficient county government. Texas County Treasurers work with other county associations to promote good local government for all that we serve.
As County Treasurers’ our roles and responsibilities play an intricate part in the financial structure of county government.  As County Treasurers we are the county banker performing the daily cash management needs of idle county funds.  We are not the tax collector and we do not set the tax rate of our respective counties.  We manage the daily cash management needs of the county while protecting taxpayer funds that have been collected.  We facilitate the ongoing finances for maintenance and operations of the county as approved for expenditure by the Commissioners Court.  Furthermore, we believe that the strength in county finance exist because of the dual control of checks and balances.  As such we believe in protecting that system of checks and balances and in maintaining a government that is open, accessible and transparent to the citizens.
I thank you for visiting our website and hope that the information herein is helpful and educational as we attempt to raise the level of efficiency in government service to the general public.
