County Treasurers' Association of Texas

County Treasurers’ Association of Texas, welcome to another great year!

It is a great privilege to be your president for the 2023 – 2024 year, and I am truly honored to serve in this capacity. I would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Region 8 for hosting us in McAllen for the September 2023 conference. The hard work and dedication you put into hosting us was evident to all.

Each day, week, month, and year we are going to see change. We are going to tackle challenges; in both our personal lives and our professional lives. Change is inevitable. Challenges are necessary. Through those we learn, we will continue to grow, and in that – we become stronger leaders as we continue to serve.

My theme this year is “Embrace the Journey”. More specifically, Embrace YOUR Journey. To embrace is to accept completely. And in order to succeed you must embrace what is presented in front of you. Journey is filled with wonder, challenges, extreme highs and lows, celebrations and special moments that define our experience. As your journey continues in your county and within CTAT, I pray that each of you embrace it. As County Treasurers, and the chief custodian of our state’s county funds, we hold an enormous responsibility. Our constituents depend on us to efficiently operate our offices, as well as show our commitment to transparency.

This year is the year of preparing and laying solid foundations for the future. Now is the time to get to know your State Representatives and Senators. Now is the time to build those relationships with them and their staff, as well as building relationships with our affiliate associations. In general, your efforts should provide positive results.

We faced some major challenges this past legislative session. The next session is right around
the corner. It is our duty to carry forward with mentoring and training our membership, whether
at regional meetings, annual education seminars, or reaching out and offering a lending hand or
shoulder during a time of need. I have witnessed heart, passion and dedication from within our
association. I think we must lead with all of those, at home, in our communities, and within
CTAT.

It is the events, planned or unexpected, that define your purpose. May 2024 provide balance,
adaptability, and be favorable as we continue to be pillars within our local government, of our
communities and our association. May we all Embrace the Journey!

I look forward to serving as your President, and working with you all this coming year.
